Below is information on how to repair and replace the damaged part of the iDrive system
Below images show symptoms of a faulty LCD screen on the 8.8 inch screen version. The below instructions show the 8.8" inch screen. If you have the smaller 6.5" screen these instructions are also applicable.

These screen issues or faults can be repaired by replacing the LCD inside the screen module, This is a cheap DIY fix for an expensive system if taken to the dealer.
